In 2007, Habia (the standards setting body for the hair and beauty industries in the UK) introduced new National Occupational Standards for male and female intimate waxing. These standards form the basis of all UK beauty qualifications, including NVQs, SVQs, Apprenticeships and Diplomas, and represent the benchmark that therapists wishing to offer this specialised service should be aiming for.

We are immensely proud that our male intimate waxing workshop is the first and currently the only training of its kind to be officially endorsed by Habia under these standards.

What is non-strip wax?

You may have heard it referred to as hard wax, peelable wax, film wax or hot wax. Traditional hot wax is applied in a thick layer or built up over several layers, usually in a fiddly figure-of-eight pattern to ensure a thorough coating of all hairs. It is left to cool and harden on the skin and is then removed by hand, taking the hair with it.

The latest generation of non-strip waxes were invented by Perron Rigot to provide perfect depilation of all hair types, even on sensitive areas. They share the unique ‘shrink wrapping’ abilities of older hot waxes but are lower in temperature, easier to apply and stay flexible as they cool. This makes them much more comfortable for the client and an ideal choice for removing short, coarse and stubborn hairs anywhere on the body.

I've never used non-strip wax before, is that a problem?

Our classes are open to all qualified hair removal technicians, regardless of the brand you currently use or your preferred technique (strip wax, hot wax or sugaring).

An introduction to Perron Rigot waxes and accessories will be provided as part of your training, and there will be plenty of time to play with the products and practice your skills during the remainder of the workshop.

Those that enjoy using the Perron Rigot range may order waxes and discounted starter kits direct from Thalgo, the UK distributor. We also offer a separate Discovery Day for therapists new to non-strip waxing who want to offer their clients the very latest in advanced depilatory techniques.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Group workshops: all waxing equipment and accessories needed for the duration of training are supplied. Please bring a pair of tweezers and nail scissors with you, plus a pad and pen for making notes. Tea, coffee and water are available, but lunch is not provided; you may bring your own food with you, or there are several cafes and sandwich shops within walking distance of the training venue.In-house training: Perron Rigot non-strip wax and depilatory oil are provided by Axiom Bodyworks, but you will need to ensure adequate provision of strip (warm) wax and all other waxing accessories (full details will be sent ahead of time).

As these are practical sessions, please ensure you are dressed appropriately in a salon uniform or similar professional workwear. Disposable gloves are provided for delegate use on all classes.

How many models do I need?

Group workshops: all models are provided (unless specified)In-house training: 1 demo model PLUS at least 1 practice model for every 2 delegates

We can only wax what is there on the day, so to get the best from your training we highly recommend rounding up as many willing case studies as possible!

Can you help with finding models?

For in-house and private training, you are responsible for providing your own models on the day. Regrettably, refunds will not be issued if models fail to attend and training is subsequently cancelled or therapists are unable to fulfil assessment requirements.

Is your training recognised by insurance providers?

Yes, public liability insurance is available from several UK providers upon presentation of your course certificate, including The Guild of Beauty Therapists and BABTAC.

Do your courses cover female Brazilian waxing?

No, Perron Rigot offers separate training in female intimate waxing; please contact us for more information.

Are your courses suitable for beginners?

Due to popular demand, we have recently launched a two-day beginners waxing class for therapists new to the wonderful world of waxing. This in-depth workshop will take you from absolute beginner to qualified pro, equipping you with the necessary skills and confidence to provide a hair removal service that is second-to-none. Once you have your basic qualification, you are then welcome to attend any of our advanced classes.

Our speed waxing workshop, advanced waxing masterclasses and Perron Rigot discovery days are suitable both for experienced therapists and newly qualified technicians.

Due to the specialised nature of intimate hair removal, our Brazilian waxing course is designed for experienced therapists only. Delegates must hold a recognised waxing qualification and be fully competent in the 'pot-and-spatula' method of waxing before attending.

What happens if I need to cancel or postpone my training?

All requests for cancellations and changes must be confirmed in writing by letter or email. Cancelling or changing the date of a course will incur the following charges:
More than 14 days notice: 50% of total training feeLess than 14 days notice: 100% of total training fee

I can't make these dates, are there more classes planned?

Yes, we run group workshops at our London and Basingstoke training venues on a monthly basis, and additional courses are planned for Glasgow, Cardiff and the Midlands throughout 2012. In-house training at your salon, spa or college is also available in the meantime.
